Queen Esther saves her people · Iran

In the Persian royal city of Susa, the young Jewish woman Esther became queen. When the official Haman plotted to destroy all the Jews of the empire, her cousin Mordecai told her: 'Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?' Esther risked her life by going to the king uninvited, and her people were saved, which Jews still celebrate at Purim. Today the ruins of the palace lie beside the Iranian town of Shush.

Did you know?

The town also has a shrine believed to be the tomb of the prophet Daniel, visited by Jews and Muslims alike.

An inspiring story

For such a time as this

What if you are exactly where you are for a reason?

Esther was a Jewish orphan, raised by her cousin Mordecai, who became queen of Persia without anyone knowing where she came from. Then the king's minister Haman got a decree signed to wipe out all the Jews. Going to the king without being summoned could cost her life. Mordecai sent her a message: who knows whether you have come to this position for such a time as this? Why did she go? Because staying silent and safe while her people died was worse. She fasted for three days, and went: 'If I perish, I perish.'

Her courage saved her people. Your place in life might be your calling.

And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?Esther 4:14
